Jeanette KotowichJEANETTE KOTOWICH - Jeanette Kotowich is a Vancouver based multidisciplinary contemporary dance artist.  She holds her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University School for the Contemporary Arts. Artistically, she is interested in exploring the creative process through authentic movement development, context driven investigations, improvisation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Jeanette is passionate about investigating a blend of contemporary and indigenous culture and knowledge, and she honors her traditional Canadian Métis heritage as a source of inspiration and reference point in her work. Since graduating in 2009, Jeanette has performed with Raven Spirit Dance at the Vancouver International Dance Festival (2013) Dance All Sorts (2012) and Dancing on the Edge Festival (2011). Most recently she has been contracted as a dancer for the Vancouver Opera on their adaptation of Mozart’s the Magic Flute (2013). Jeanette has been a company member and frequent performer with the traditional Métis Dance group Compaigni V’ni Dansi since 2009.  She has performed with Starrwind Dance Projects at the Talking Stick Festival (2012) and Dancing on the Edge (2012). In 2012 she participated in the annual Exchanges workshop with Co.ERASGA. In 2010 she attended the Kaha:wi Dance summer training and the Earth in Motion’s Aboriginal Choreographers Symposium in Toronto, and participated in the EDAM Dance summer intensive in Vancouver. She also participated as a dancer in the Banff Centre’s Aboriginal Choreographers Summit in 2009.
